The Foundation
The
Fundación Antonio Menchaca de la Bodega was established in memory
of his father, and is aimed at carrying out social activities for the
needy and at the development of science and culture.
The foundation’s basic area of action is the Historical Territory
of Bizkaia, although it also conducts activities outside this geographical
area when deemed appropriate by its Board.
For its incessant activity in favour of the needy, the Foundation received
the Utopia Award in 2001, awarded by the Regional Government of Bizkaia.

ACTIVITIES:
Subsidies
Currently, the Foundation
organises a yearly call for proposals for the granting of subsidies
to entities working in the field of social action, where priority is
given to those carrying out activities with the socially excluded and
to those who do not receive any other economic aid to conduct their
activities.

Every year, the Fundación
Antonio Menchaca de la Bodega, through a public call for nominations,
grants a series of awards to honour outstanding private individuals
and entities who have been prominent in their daily lives for their
solidarity actions.

Agreements
As part of its activities,
the Foundation carries out agreements with several entities for the
joint development of projects.
- Agreements implemented:
LENDING OF PREMISES: The Foundation lends a mezzanine
floor of a building located between Altube and Villabaso streets in
the neighbourhood of Rekaldeberri, to the St Vincent de Paul Society,
where this institution carries out its work for the cultural support
of youths in the area.
DISASTER AID: In the year 2001, the Foundation made a cash contribution
to the Red Cross to provide aid to the area devastated by hurricane
Mitch in El Salvador.
In 2005, the Foundation also contributed cash to the Médicos
del Mundo (Doctors of the World) organization to provide relief aid
to areas affected by the December 2004 tsunami disaster.
